    Strategic Foundations are an organization's framework of defining its planning process, strategies, objectives and defining decision-making procedures that affect allocating its resources to pursue specific commercial paths. CONCEPTUALIZATION
Insight can be applied to various levels of a corporation and provides knowledge and understanding that can refocus a perception of an issue. Strategically, this could be the re-alignment with Suppliers, and interpretation of laws and regulations or applying new methodologies and processes to increase production. Again, insight provides how, when, where, who and why efficiencies can be produced and profitability be extracted.

A well thought out solution is based on best practices and best-in-class models to make a company more competitive, efficient and profitable. Strategic planning is the most effective management tool for controlling change and instilling transformation. External influencers often provoke obligatory modifications to your business model [i.e., laws, regulations, competition, globalization, de-regulation, etc.]. In some cases, change is slow and easy to digest. In others cases, such as the current energy crisis, dramatic and quick changes affect and impact your business and its organization. Proactive management anticipates this possibility and reflects that insight into their plans. An example could be the recognition of maturity models and what should be considered for the “next step” in transformation. Strategic planning is a mindset to embrace change for the benefits to your concern, but this mindset must conform to a framework in order to be repeatable and consistent.

Another key source of change is from internal changes in your business model. This may be due to internal refinements of processes, new strategies, product lines, linkage of strategies to new systems, or an acquisition that needs to integrated into the corporate structure. Dramatic changes in the external environment may also require modifications or enhancements of current processes [i.e., logistic strategies, objectives and goals may affect policies that are engaged in controlling distribution of goods, review of vendors and services, or even expense reimbursement from your Marketing and Sales personnel]. Business requirements will be drivers for transformation.

TRANSFORMATION
Influencers, either external or internal, provide change drivers that affect your efficiencies and productivity. This is often translated into decreases in various metrics such as these examples: delivery time, cycle time, cost of delivery to the customer, system response time, system availability, etc.

JBS offers customized services and solutions that address the client's environment; not inflexible services that the client must conform to make changes. Acknowledging the client's environmental constraints, desires and focus of the types of changes wanted and agreement on adaptability within the scope of the project are some examples of collaboration and communication that are linchpins to the process.

JBS also provides solutions by which a strategy is carried out; planned and ad hoc activities meant to deal with the demands of the moment, and to move from one milestone to other in pursuit of the overall goal(s). In an organization, top management or the board of directors decides strategy, and tactics are applied to the operations, by the department heads, for implementation by staff, the secondary managers and employees. Tactical solutions are based on short-term goals [a.k.a. tactical objectives] whose attainment moves an organization towards achieving its strategic or long-term goals. Business or tactical operations are those ongoing recurring activities involved in the running of a business for the purpose of producing value for the stakeholders.

In addition, careful consideration should be given to staffing requirements. The identification, filtering, qualifying and contracting, sub-contracting, or 'internalizing' resource requirements due to growth, expansion of a competitive advantage or to support initiatives; whether required for management support or staff augmentation can be provided by supplemental services.

LEAN SIX SIGMA: A COMPLIMENT
Lean Six Sigma is a strategic transformation methodology to enhance your business environment. This is also true for process refinement in the innovation arena. From an innovation view point, Lean Six Sigma can be applied to current business processes that provide the underpinnings for current business needs and support innovation practices. From a newly created innovation environment, Lean Six Sigma can be an applied strategy to structure and support for innovation design, experimentation, proof of concept and final introduction to new products or services. It seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and variation in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods. Additionally, three distinct Lean Six Sigma approaches are available in constructing new processes. The ultimate objective and benefit of Lean Six Sigma is converting those causes of defects into tangible outcomes that affect: customer satisfaction, quality, profitability, productivity, performance, and efficiency.

The largest wave of change exists today, due to two major influencers: limited energy resources and the "greening" or environmental concerns about our modern way of life and the methods we produce energy.
